After spending 18 years in the restaurant business working for others, Bob & Sandi Holt purchased the Juke Box Pizza & Grill in Delano on December 4, 1989. The Juke Box Pizza and Grill was located along Highway 12 inside a strip mall built in 1976. Half a school bus was incorporated into the décor, along with a working Juke Box that played oldies. This ambiance set the stage for many great meals and memorable conversations.
Bob, being a trained chef, had new plans for his newly purchased Juke Box Pizza and Grill. He wanted to serve more than just pizza and sandwiches, since he had many recipes that he had developed through the years. He and Sandi decided to drop "Pizza and Grill" from the original name and replace it with "Restaurant" to reflect the new direction of the menu. The Juke Box menu was expanded to offer a broader selection that included some of Bob’s very own creations. A small salad bar was also added and dinner options were introduced. With 26 pizza toppings to choose from, The Juke Box Restaurant made the tastiest pizzas within miles of Delano.
Over the next 19 years, the Juke Box Restaurant became the "little engine that could" for Bob and Sandi. It is here that Bob, Sandi and their son Bob set the premise for, and grew, the reputation of the Juke Box Restaurant by hard work, real quality ingredients and top notch hospitality. The walls, over time, became quaintly decorated with memorabilia reflecting past eras; giving to some a time to reminisce, and to others- numerous questions to ask.
For those customers who have had the pleasure of making Juke Box Restaurant a part of your family, you will be happy to know that what you have grown to love will still be present in the new Juke Box Restaurant location…along with some new additions.
Those of you who will be stopping in for the first time, be assured care will always be taken to use only the best ingredients in everything served. The staff is always cheerful and very efficient; some of the memorabilia has been brought over and placed, along with a brand new collector Rockola Juke Box...that will always be playing the oldies and newbies - for free!
